About Sandhills

Sandhills Studios is a state of the art recording facility situated in Liverpool’s docklands. Housed within a 19th century cotton warehouse, Sandhills offers a secluded, intimate atmosphere for recording that combines an attractive blend of modern technology and classic architectural design.

Our air-conditioned control room has  clear lines of sight into the three main recording areas, yet maintains excellent sonic isolation.

Centered around a fully restored SSL 4000E series console, Pro Tools HD Accel, and a fantastic selection of outboard, the control room is at the heart of Sandhills Studios.

1000 sqft live room

Holding pride of place within Sandhills is our 1000 square foot live room. The largest of our 4 recording areas, the live room enables incredible sound and provides a highly tuned sonic environment that  enhances instruments, both acoustic and electric.

In addition to the audible benefits, the room’s open plan layout can comfortably accommodate large numbers of artists, resulting in a versatile and charismatic recording space.

Augmenting this superb live space are two smaller rooms that possess a drier acoustic character, making them ideal for sounds that need to be direct, detailed, and personal.

Natural reverb chamber

Another unique feature of Sandhills Studios is our enormous reverb chamber. Boasting a stone interior and vaulted ceilings, the natural aura of this room is extremely impressive. It’s size allows for a variety of different sounding ambiences to be captured, and it has become a very popular tool at Sandhills Studios amongst musicians and producers alike.

Relaxing living area

Finally, no studio would be complete without a relaxing living area. Sandhills features a welcoming client lounge, complete with Xbox, DVD Player, and leather sofa, as well as a fully equipped kitchen that includes a comfortable communal dining area.
