Q - How much does it cost to hire the studio??

All prices are for 9 hour days (usually 10am - 7pm) and include sound engineer, all equipment hire (amps etc) and VAT.

We offer discounts for unsigned bands and for block bookings.

Q - We want to record 3 songs - how long would it take?

As a general rule of thumb, in order to get a decent recording we would recommend you spend one day per song. This would then give you time to make a good recording and mix the song. A lot of bands forget that mixing takes up a lot of time but can be possibly the most crucial part of the process. At Sandhills we are firm believers that a few well recorded and properly mixed tracks are better than a bunch of rushed and hurriedly mixed songs that might disappoint.

Q - What do we do regarding payment/deposits?

We usually insist on a deposit to book your session. Once you have paid for the session in full you will be given all of the material you have recorded.

Q - What should I bring to the studio on the day?

Try and bring as much of your gear as possible. Guitarists/bassists make sure you have new strings and tune them on the day using our rack tuner. You should bring all your cables, spare strings and amps if you have them. Although we have a superb selection of amps for you to use, they might not necessarily be to your taste. Drummers - make sure your kit is in tune. We can help tune it for you but that could end up wasting valuable recording time.
