Sandhills Studios are located in the basement of a nineteenth century cotton warehouse in the docklands area of Liverpool.
The studios consist of many features which are designed to ensure maximum flexibility. The control room is airconditioned and sound proof enabling accurate tracking from each of the 3 live studio rooms. Studio A is a large lively room which is 900 square feet and is ideal for any recordings which require plenty of ambience. There are chairs and dimmer lights available so you can create the perfect mood for your recording session.

Why not take advantage of the studio's natural characteristics and open the side door from studio A into this original stone area? The stone area has a wonderful natural reverb which is perfect for adding ambience to percussion or other instruments that would benefit from a vibrant reverb. We would simply put one of our high end mics in the space as shown in the photo and mix the tone in as required.
Since Studio A is so large, the possibilities for recording are huge. Close mic a guitar cab, or add a mic at the other side of the room to blend in a big natural room tone.
We are all guitarists at Sandhills Studios and we specialise in guitar tone. Check out the equipment list to see details of amps and cabs that are rarely seen outside private collections. You can hire our amps and cabs or you can bring your own equipment. Either way you will be guaranteed great tone on your recordings.
Studio B is joined to Studio A, but divided by glass. There is minimal bleed through between the two studios, but a massive advantage in that visual contact can be maintained. This is ideal if a drummer records in studio B and the rest of the band record in studio A. Everyone tracks live and the band can see each other at the same time. The room has also been acoustically treated on the walls and ceiling. This produces a tight punchy tone which is well suited for percussion.

Studio C is a smaller studio with acoustic treatment. The room has minimal reflections and is ideal for vocals or other recordings where a dead sound is required. It can be used as a larger iso room if needed using the tie lines from the control room. The studio is decorated with vibrant cloth walls giving the room its own interesting character. This studio, has views via double windows back to the control room, as do all of the other studios, allowing bands to retain visual contact with the studio engineer and other band members.
The studio also benefits from a lounge area with Hifi/CD player, TV/DVD/VCR/N64(Goldeneye), and comfy seats to relax in. Kitchen/WC facilities are available with tea/coffee, fridge, microwave and toaster.
Most importantly, the studio also has a lift enabling you to load your equipment in without breaking your backs!
